This series of digital illustrations, created for my senior apex course, explores the theme of transformation through a combination of vivid colors and abstract forms. Each piece represents a different stage of metamorphosis, reflecting personal growth and the journey of self-discovery. The use of digital mediums allowed for experimentation with layering and texture, enhancing the emotional depth of the illustrations. Overall, the project aims to evoke a sense of change and possibility, inviting viewers to reflect on their own experiences of transformation.
The portraits used original photography as reference, and were completed in a digital format. A series of original Photoshop brushes were also created for these illustrations, and each portrait was hand-drawn using a Wacom tablet. All proportions and lines were freehanded, and the use of image trace functionality was not employed.
